RCA Cambio 10.1 Review

If you are looking for an inexpensive portable laptop/tablet hybrid computer for use with common home or office productivity tasks, the RCA Cambio 10.1 is not your best choice. There are several options from other brands, either a bit cheaper or slightly more expensive, which perform significantly better and have nicer physical build quality. Nonetheless, this is a suitable enough choice for those needing a Windows 10 computer on a tight budget who won’t mind compromises in performance and quality for light use of basic productivity applications.

First off, the specs:

  • Processor: Intel Atom Z3735F quad-core processor, 1.33GHz
  • Memory: 2gb
  • Display: 10.1”, multi-touch capable, 1280×800 resolution
  • Graphics: Intel HD Integrated Graphics
  • Storage: 32gb, microSD expandable
  • Weight: 2.1 pounds
  • Width: 1.1” thick when folded with the keyboard.
  • Camera: Dual camera – 1MP front, 2MP back
  • Wireless: 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0
  • Keyboard: “Pogo” keyboard with multi-touch track pad
  • Color options: black, blue, pink, purple
  • Others: micro HDMI ports, micro USB and regular USB 2.0, audio jack for microphone and speaker, built in microphone and speakers (all on the tablet half)
  • OS: Windows 10 Home
  • Battery Life: 6 hours

As mentioned, this device feels fragile and underpowered even at its price point just over $100. Its low-end Intel Atom processor is normal for devices at this level but the RCA Cambio still underperformed in several benchmark tests. It has a noticeable 1-2 second lag even with simple commands such as right clicking to reveal more options. The sluggish performance is further aggravated when used with a few more running apps.

With just 2gb of RAM it can only run a 32-bit Windows 10 system which further limits its capabilities given that many new Windows apps can only run on 64-bit. It is sufficient for basic internet browsing (with minimal tabs open) and for running MS Office programs, plus a few simple games with light graphics. Don’t expect anything more.

It has a smooth finished plastic body that although feels flimsy, is quite surprisingly sturdy. The docking mechanism between the tablet screen and the keyboard is pleasantly strong even without some form of magnetic latch. All its connective ports are on the tablet body by the way.

The small built-in touch pad is another thing you’d rather do without. It requires some significant finger force to make a click, right clicking is even harder. Dragging files is also out of the question because of the sticky touchpad. The device can do it but save yourself the frustration and just don’t. Best use a portable wireless mouse instead. On the flip side though, the chiclet-style keyboard is nice and comfortable to use with its ample travel space.

The cameras are there for the sake of having it rather than to be a key feature. Like much of how the computer performs, the 2mp rear camera is slow with its auto-focusing and the shots always turn up hazy. The front camera unsurprisingly also isn’t very good but is perfectly sufficient for video calls.

Its battery life will have it running for a respectable 6-7 hours which should last enough for a whole day’s work, but is still considerably less than its counterparts. You’ll just have to charge it up a bit more frequently. And speaking of charging, RCA Cambio can conveniently be charged with its included AC adapter or through micro USB. It does not include a micro USB charger though but that is simple enough to resolve with a micro USB – USB 2.0 converter cable.

It is available in four color options (blue, black, purple, and pink) so you can at least have it match your personality.

RCA devices are manufactured by Alco Electronics Ltd., and they offer up several affordable Windows and Android devices.

The RCA Cambio 10.1 is a tablet/laptop hybrid computer that although available at a great price, offers very little in terms of performance. It probably did not aspire to be an all-around capable portable computer. It is simply a usable one for basic browsing, typing, and some multimedia functionality. For most people, that should already be enough so long as it works as it should.

RCA Maven Pro 11.6 Review

Though it started out virtually unknown among computer tablets, the RCA 11.6 Maven Pro has steadily risen in popularity to become a top product that’s highly recommended by its users.  RCA has made their mark in their industry as a maker of entertainment technology and appliances, but they’ve now proven that they can also produce competitive computers and tablets.  The Maven Pro combines the best features of laptop computers and tablets while being more practical and affordable than other well-known brands.  This tablet and laptop-in-one has its share of both pros and cons, but the pros are a compelling enough reason to purchase it.  Find out more about this product here.

RCA Maven Pro 11.6

The RCA Maven Pro features an 11.6-inch screen and runs on the Android operating system 5.0 Lollipop.  It’s powered by a 1.4Ghz and quad-core CPU.  Screen resolution is an impressive 1366 x 768 pixels.  It falls short on both the front and rear camera, however, which have a resolution of 2 megapixels.  When in use, the battery lasts until about 8 hours and can last for more than a day on standby mode.  Storage capacity is 1 GB RAM and 32 GB.  Aside from the standard headset port, the other ports available include one for a USB, another for the micro-USB, and a micro-HDMI port as well.

What you’ll like about it

There’s plenty to like about this tablet.  You can use it as a tablet and when you need to work, it can be converted into a small laptop.  It also comes with a removable keyboard and trackpad.  This keyboard can conveniently be stowed away safely behind the tablet.  The screen is larger than average, making a satisfyingly sizable display.  Resolution is above par, creating vivid and vibrant views, which you can enjoy to the fullest thanks to its large screen.

The touchscreen responds easily and smoothly, a big advantage for this device.  Using the Internet with this tablet presents no problems.  You can do the usual tasks such as watch movies and videos or browse websites to your heart’s content.  Heavy use such as gaming or large software programs needed for work-related business may not be best with this device, however.  As for the hardware specifications, they are not exactly top of the line but they do give above average power and if you don’t need this tablet for heavy use or gaming, it will definitely be more than adequate for you.

The keyboard, meanwhile, is an accessory you won’t be disappointed in.  It feels comfortable and doesn’t strain your hand.  It’s just the right size to make typing a breeze while not being too large and difficult to store.

Memory-wise, this tablet is pretty good and you can always expand the memory options with a micro-SD card.  The battery life of this tablet is also better than most, lasting longer than expected and keeping the tablet running at a good speed while in use.

To top it all off, the low cost of this tablet makes it a great deal, considering its mostly top quality features and excellent performance.  The price range makes it easy on the pocket and is one of the reasons it has become a crowd favorite.

Areas to improve on

The design of this tablet still looks attractive though it doesn’t really stand out from the rest.  If you’re looking for something with a pleasant design, however, and that performs best when it comes to functional features, this is it.

Another drawback is that it can be a bit of a challenge to hold and it is slightly heavier since it’s bulkier than the usual tablet.  This not entirely unexpected since it is, after all, a two in one device which converts easily into a laptop.  The cameras at 2 megapixels capture decent shots but it may not be to your liking if you’re passionate about taking photos.  The audio quality from the speakers is not bad either, but it could also use some work.

If you’re looking for a good quality tablet that can be used as a laptop at a pinch, the RCA 11.6 Maven Pro is ideal.  For light to moderate use, without any gaming, this tablet hits the mark.  It’s not too costly, it runs pretty smoothly and it can do most tasks easily.

RCA Viking Pro 10.1 Review

The RCA Viking Pro 10.1

The RCA Viking Pro is a 10.1-inch, two-in-one hybrid tablet that comes with an affordable price tag. It is called a hybrid tablet as it features a detachable keyboard. This tablet appears o be more expensive than the Kindle Fire, but runs purely on Android and features better specs. Read on to know more about this hybrid mobile device and what is so great about it.

  • Operating System: Android 5.0
  • Chip: Quad Core
  • Resolution: 1280×800
  • Screen:      10.1″ IPS
  • RAM: 1GB
  • Capacity: 32GB
  • Front Facing 2 megapixel webcam
  • Rear 2 megapixel webcam
  • Battery Life: 6 Hours
  • Unit Weight: 2.29LBS

The RCA Viking runs on Android Lollipop 5.0, with 24GB of internal storage. You may delete some of the pre-installed applications if you want more free space for other purposes. It has an MT8127 quad-core processor that runs at 1.3GHz and supported by 1GB of RAM. In terms of performance, this hybrid tablet works just fine. Most apps will run smoothly, but you will want to avoid multitasking. It is best to close all the unused apps to make way for those that you want to open. For its price, it is still quite fast.

The screen display spans 10.1 inches. While it only has a 1280×800 resolution, the price still makes the purchase well worth it. It is capable of running high-definition videos, which is great news for video streamers. For most purposes, this 10.1-inch screen display is adequate.

The keyboard is compact and surprisingly good. It features 17 shortcut keys for better typing experience. The trackpad has multitouch capabilities that can be extremely useful at times. However, you have to be extra careful not to touch the trackpad as you type on the keyboard. You may choose to use a wireless mouse as desired.

This device has front and back cameras with decent resolutions. Both cameras offer 2megapixels, which is already enough if you are not fond of taking photos or you simply want to take decent shots. It can be useful in an emergency, and you do not have the time to grab your smartphone or DSLR to take photos.

The Speaker

Audiophiles can easily spot which devices have the best sound. This hybrid tablet, however, will only give you the quality you need for basic uses. If you are extremely particular with sound quality, then you may use the tablet’s Bluetooth feature and connect it to a wireless speaker.

This tablet is made of rigid plastic. While it may seem cheap quality, this material is not the type of plastic that attracts fingerprints. Mobile device users know how gadgets tend to get filled with smudgy fingerprints and end up looking cheap.

The tablet and keyboard offer 9.6-millimeter thickness, making it portable, but durable enough to last long. One possible downside would be its weight of more than two pounds. You might end up switching hands or changing your view to portrait mode so you can ease the strain on your hands.

You will find a reset button on the back portion, along with a micro SD slot that lets you expand the device’s memory up to 128GB. Other important features to look for include the headphone jack, volume control, micro USB port, and the micro HDMI slot. This two-in-one tablet works pretty well. The keyboard is attached using the magnets, and it lets you go on tent or display mode when watching videos or movies.

The Battery

The RCA Viking Pro’s battery life is not too bad. When fully charged, you can use this device for up to five hours. It even sends you a notification when there is 20 percent battery left. You will be given the option to turn the brightness down to maximize the remaining power. Furthermore, you only need three hours to fully charge this device. It also consumes nearly zero power when on a standby mode.

The RCA Viking Pro 10.1-inch hybrid tablet is truly worth its price. It is a more affordable option compared to many of its competitors. It has all the basic features that you need, but the inclusion of a detachable keyboard gives it a twist. This tablet is ideal for users who are not particular with the sound quality, resolution, multitasking capabilities, and other advanced features present in the more expensive models.

Vuru A33 8GB Quad Core Touchscreen Android For Kids Review

Once in awhile we would get an offer we couldn’t resist. In this case, it’s a tablet that fetches for a very low price, so low that our suspicions get triggered. But all of the features are there; It’s kid friendly, nice compact size of 7 inches for the screen, dual cameras, even pre-installed with the basic apps. Not to mention that it comes in several colors.

However, this is where we possibly should inspect the quality a little bit more closely. The mentality is that, if something is expensive, then you know they spent on quality, b but when a product is cheaper, then there must be something wrong about it.

Not always the case, however. We have found products that would be truly affordable and yet satisfy our standards. Those are products we look out for; the good buys. Only after scrutinizing the features and offerings of the product should you decide if it really does fit the bill for a good buy.

The Vuru Tablet would suit a child’s needs possibly because of its 8GB internal storage capacity. The tablet is also good for adults alike, as the only difference would be that on a child’s tablet you would download and set up parental controls. Vuru has pre installed apps, but they are in the form of Skype, Netflix, Google Play and Chrome, which, in the exception of Netflix and Skype, are pretty much standard in most android versions. This one runs on Kitkat.

Vuru also claims quality materials in the making of these tablets, making it ideal for children and adults alike. The 8 GB internal memory may not satisfy a lot of grownups that use lots of social media or memory hungry applications, however, and the 512MB RAM may not be fast enough for a lot of applications.

The size of the tablet is convenient. 7 inch tablets are small enough to fit a woman’s handbag, and even people’s pockets. Yet they are big enough for you to view the screen with ease. This unit will also work in the absence of wifi, as it is compatible to 3G. The way the tablet is being sold is as a kid’s tablet, where children don’t have much demand for performance and speed, however. But it would be the perfect size for small hands to handle.

Again, the fact that you have both wifi and 3G options for internet connectivity is convenient, as whenever wifi is absent, you can rely on your data plan to connect to the internet outdoors. The device is indeed designed for communication, having pre-installed Skype, and equipped with dual cameras. No doubt that that was the purpose of such arrangement.

If you’re concerned about the 8GB storage capacity, the memory is expandable. Should a child indeed use this, there can be enough space for a lot of videos and photos. It is presumed you can expand the memory up to 32GB.

The feedback it gets from people are very mixed. As I’ve mentioned in the beginning, when a product is as low priced as this one, you’re not paying for a high-end or feature-rich model. The low RM and storage space for this device is not satisfying for adults, so it’s safer to say, this will be better for kids to use. Install a parental control app on it like Zoodles, and you’re good. It’s a useful kids tablet, no doubt.

Customer reviews and score

Some users say its battery life is on the lower end, it has no HDMI port for TV or monitor connection, and has lower quality graphics. However, it is very light, loads fast and they like its expandable storage.

The Google Android 4.4 KitKat delivers many more new features. Using the emoji icons, your conversations will be more interesting. Voice search, open or save files on Google Drive etc provide good convenience. This makes it one of the diverse devices in the market with a low price tag. Who says that you can never own one? Source.

The tablet’s screen is decent for this size device, but it’s not the brightest nor the sharpest screen that I have come across. It features two cameras. They are good enough for taking spontaneous casual shots, or for Skypeing. Source.

The Alldaymall 7-inch tablet is a decent find for a low price. Reviews are mostly on the positive side that overshadows the negatives. Unlike other models that may give you a heart attack waiting for it to load, this device is just what everybody else needs. Good value for money is all what it seems to be.

What Customers Say:

“I’m impressed. This is the first Leapfrog tablet I’ve purchased. I’m not tech savvy and it was a breeze to set up and hand over to the children. It came in uncomplicated packaging and directions. The tablet comes with green rubber cover and attached stylus pen. I was pleased with the parental control settings. The hardest thing to do was to decide what extra learning games to buy. They are expensive but it helped that we purchased a $20 digital download card for half price. We have 7 children with the oldest being 11 yes. He even enjoys some of the activities and is able to brush up on his multiplication/ division skills with the math games. We are pondering over getting a second one so the others can have their own profile (Three on each tablet) Having two would also enable them to “text” each other or play certain games together if they are in the same room. It’s nice to know that you don’t have to purchase duplicate apps for an extra leap pad. The children are quite pleased with the photo/video taking abilities and voice recorder as well. I appreciate that they are able to explore safely.” – by Buggy
